Windows 8/8.1: problem with key drivers

The drivers of the hardware key can be downloaded from the official website of the Sentinel.

On the page that will open at the top, let's choose the driver for the command line:

Install hardlock key drivers

To manually install/uninstall the USB KEY Drivers, following instructions below:

 

1. Log into your computer as a user with administrative permissions;

2. Open an elevated Command Prompt by doing the following sub-steps;

 

Note: If you do not have the 'Run as administrator' option, please contact your company's IT Administrator to give you access to this or have them perform the procedure for you.

 

Windows 7

• Navigate to Start menu and type in the search bar: cmd;

• Once 'cmd.exe' shows in the program list, right-click it and select: Run as Administrator..

NT and 'error reading key data'

If you get the error:
PP015: error reading key data
and you have an old ASPAN 3(or TASK 2) Hardlock Key and you are trying to install the program under Windows NT, here is the solution for your problem:

  1. nstall Aspan on to a PC with Windows 95 or 98 operating system.
  2. Run Aspan at least once.
  3. Make a backup of the "C:\Aspan4" directory, including all the subdirectories, from the Win 95/98 PC to the Win NT PC. You may use the network if available or a parallel or serial cable or you may use diskettes.
  4. Restore the previous backup of the "C:\Aspan4" directory, including all the subdirectories, on to the NT PC.
  5. Install again Aspan on to the NT PC, overwriting the restore.
  6. After these operations you will be able to run Aspan on the NT PC

If using TASK 3.04p1+ (or ASPAN 4.05p3+), if having a recent HardLock Key (shipped after 6/97), if installing under Windows 95: NO problems.
If using TASK 3.5 (or ASPAN 4.6), if having a recent HardLock Key (shipped after 6/97), if installing under Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT: NO problems.

Program activation problems


If you run ASPAN and you get a message such as: 'You need a primary HardLock key in order to run Aspan for the first time', this means you are trying to run ASPAN with a secondary (additional) hardlock key before having activated it.
The secondary hardlock has a (A) printed in its label following the serial number.
You need to act as follows:

- Unplug the secondary (additional) Hardlock key;
- Insert the primary HardLock Key;
- Run ASPAN;
- Exit ASPAN;
- Unplug the primary Hardlock key;
- Insert the secondary (additional) HardLock Key;
- Run ASPAN.


Before plugging or unplugging a hardlock key switch off the computer, to avoid damage to the key.

NOTE: You can not have more than ONE ASPAN installed in the same computer if you are using a Secondary Key
